Dementia changes what good care looks like. Correcting somebody who has the year wrong achieves nothing except distress; redirecting them into something else achieves the whole afternoon. Our caregivers are trained in that difference, and it is the thing families notice first.

The routine matters as much as the person. Meals at the same time, the same caregiver through the same hours, the day shaped the same way it was yesterday — predictability is calming in a way that is hard to overstate for somebody who can no longer hold the shape of a day in their head.

Then there is safety, which usually prompts the call: the stove left on, the front door at night, the stairs. Much of this can be managed at home with somebody present, and we would rather help you keep that going than watch a family move somebody too early because nobody offered an alternative.
