A Local Partner for Non-Medical Home Care

Gentle Touch Home Assist supports the clients you are already caring for — with the everyday help that keeps someone safely at home once your part of their care is finished.

Where we fit

We provide non-medical in-home care: help with bathing and dressing, meals, light housekeeping, medication reminders, mobility support, transportation and companionship. We are the hands-on daily support that sits alongside skilled care rather than replacing it.

That makes us a natural fit after a hospital or rehab discharge, alongside home health or hospice, or when a family is trying to delay a move to assisted living. Care can run from a few hours a week up to 24-hour and live-in support.

Coverage: Plainfield, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Joliet, Shorewood, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Burr Ridge, Western Springs, Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Gold Coast, Streeterville, River North, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Will County, DuPage County, Cook County, Lake County, Surrounding Chicagoland Communities. Who We Work With

Professionals who refer to us

Hospital & rehab discharge planners

Support in place for the day someone comes home, so a discharge is not delayed by a gap in daily care.

Home health & hospice agencies

The bathing, meals and housekeeping your clinical staff cannot provide, coordinated around your visit schedule.

Assisted living & senior communities

One-to-one support for residents who need more than the community provides, and for families not yet ready to move.

Geriatric care managers

A dependable agency to carry out the plan you have built, with a written care plan and a caregiver matched to the client.

Elder law attorneys & financial advisors

Clients holding long-term care policies often do not know how to put them to use. We work with private pay and long-term care insurance.

Faith communities & senior services

A local, licensed option for congregants and clients who need help staying at home safely.

Scope of Care

Exactly where the line sits

Stated plainly so you never send someone we cannot help.

What we provide

  • Bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting support
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Medication reminders
  • Mobility support and safe transfer assistance
  • Transportation to appointments and errands
  • Companionship and supervision
  • Dementia and Alzheimer's support
  • Overnight, 24-hour and live-in care
  • Respite for family caregivers

What we do not provide

We are a non-medical agency. The following require a licensed clinician and are outside our scope:

  • Skilled nursing care
  • Wound care or injections
  • Administering medication, as distinct from reminding
  • Physical, occupational or speech therapy
  • Diagnosis, treatment or any medical advice

If a client needs both, we are glad to work alongside the home health or hospice agency providing the clinical care.

How care is paid for

Accepted

  • Private pay
  • Long-term care insurance

Not accepted

  • Medicare
  • Veterans' benefits

Medicare does not cover ongoing non-medical home care of the kind we provide in any case. If a program we do not accept is the only realistic way to fund a client's care, we will say so honestly rather than book an assessment that cannot go anywhere.

How to make a referral

  1. Call or email us

Tell us what the client needs, where they live and when care would need to begin. We will tell you honestly what we can arrange.

  2. We contact the family

With the family's permission, we reach out directly so you are not left coordinating between us.

  3. Free in-home assessment

We visit at no cost and no obligation to understand routines, safety concerns and what support would genuinely help.

  4. Written care plan and caregiver match

We put together a plan built around the client, match a screened caregiver, and introduce them properly before care begins.

Sending us client details

Please do not send client health information by email. Call us and we will take the details securely.
